Superannuation is a passive entity that harnesses the power of compounding interest. You may not even know how much you have, or what it’s invested in, until the time comes when you need to use it. When can I withdraw money?
There are strict conditions you must meet to withdraw from your superannuation. You must: Turn 65 (even if you haven’t retired); Reach preservation age, and;
What is preservation age? This is the age when you are able to access your super (or start a transition to retirement income stream). This age depends on your date of birth. For example, if you were born July 1st, 1960, your preservation age would be 56. Anyone born after 1 July 1964 has a preservation age of 60. You can find out more about preservation ages here.
